Sales donation day – Supporting Sands Stillbirth and neonatal death charity

If you’ve read Together Apart, you’ll know that it involves the issues of miscarriage and stillbirth. It’s not something I myself have ever had to go through, but I know a number of people who have. On Facebook last week, I saw a few posts from a girl I went to school with. She was posting updates about her baby daughter who passed away last December, trying to raise awareness about pregnancy and infant death awareness.

For seven days, from last Wednesday until this Wednesday the 15th, it’s baby loss awareness week, and the 15th is a dedicated day for remembrance. I was incredibly struck by my friends very public posts and how brave she was, and since these themes run throughout Together Apart, I’ve decided that the proceeds from my sales on 15th October will be donated to Sands, a lovely charity supporting all those affected by stillbirth and neonatal death.

You can find details about Sands and make a donation here, and I’ll do an extra post with the update on how much has been raised on Thursday or Friday

It’s the final countdown!

Not this kind:

I did used to love that song though. No, I mean this kind of countdown:

calendar

Last week, I spoke to the ever helpful and awesome Caroline Batten and put together a publishing calendar. It highlights everything I need to do between now and my release date and includes:

  • Send Caroline my draft. Because I’d never publish anything without her having gone through it first!
  • Send to my structural editor in under a couple of weeks time
  • Send to my copy editor
  • Get started on a cover with my cover designer

And that’s just for starters. It kind of rammed it all home just how much I’ve got to do and that means I’ll be living, breathing, eating and sleeping this book. No parties (ok, maybe one), no TV, no nothing.

Just work.

It’s a good thing I perform well under pressure!

When dreams start to come true

Something amazing happened last week, something that I never even really dared to dream about. Together Apart broke into the top 100 on Amazon.co.uk.

OMFG

At the time of writing, it’s sitting at number 43 and number 1 in New Adult and Romantic Suspense. I’ve reverted to checking it on an almost hourly basis. It’s beyond fantastic, but I’d be lying if I said I was pooping my pants at the same time. I honestly never expected it to do so well, especially when the first few months were pretty much barren as far as sales were concerned. So now, the pressure is on for book two.

I have to keep the momentum going and I reckon I’m about 65% of the way there. But, now that I’ll be heading to Goa again, I’ve got to get it published – quick. Man, I like to put myself under pressure, don’t I?

Massive thanks to everyone who’s supported me so far, it means a LOT.
