I need your help!!!

Writing is awesome. You can make people do what you want, when you want and how you want. There are literally thousands of opportunities. But, with the endless choice comes endless indecision, and for me, it’s character names. How on earth are you supposed to choose?

So, I’m asking for help. I need suggestions for a character name in my new book – female, aged 25. At the moment I’m making her British, but if I get a foreign name that I fall in love with, I can change it.

As a reward, I’ll give you an acknowledgment in my credits.

So, any suggestions?

And the Oscar award goes to…

Oscars

Yep, it’s that time of year again – the red carpet season is in full swing and for the next 24 hours, the internet will be awash with who wore what, who said what and more importantly, who won what. So, I thought it would be fun to do my own little award ceremony with a twist…based on the nominees, here are my Oscars for roles in Together Apart (obviously I’ve had to get a bit creative, based on the nominations). Drum roll please!

Adam – Matthew McConaughey. I know, I didn’t choose Leo, but Mr M would make a better Adam for me. He’s handsome (of course) and he has a cheeky side. But when he’s playing a serious role? Swoon.

Sarah/Claire – Jennifer Lawrence. Really…is there anything this woman isn’t good at? Not only is she gorgeous and a great actress, she also seems to quite a sensible lady. Perfect for Sarah and Claire.

Jenny – Amy Adams. Ok, ok. She’s the wrong colour, but this woman’s attitude is pure perfection for Jenny.

Carl – Bradley Cooper. Good-looking,  a lad’s lad and cheeky. Enough said. Oh, and its not at all relevant, but have you heard Bradley speaking almost fluent French? *sigh*

Matt – Chiwetel Ejiofor. I love this man. In one look, he can show strength, humility and wisdom. A lot like Matt.

It’ll be great to see who wears what, who says what and who wins what. I reckon my five are in with a good shot! x

It’s all a learning curve!

Whew! Self-pubbing is hard work! The uploading of the book to Amazon, the promo – and I’m already learning heaps along the way. As an example, I’ve only just worked out how to gift my book, or that I have to have a separate Author Central account for .com and .co.uk. The self-promo can be ruthlessly hard, but it seems to be working. Copies are shifting and I’d always said I’d be happy if I ever sold just one, so it’s happy days.

And of course, now Together Apart is done, I can get started on the next one, and you can be sure I’m putting the experiences I’ve had here in Goa into it. I’m excited at what’s going to come next!
